What is Forex and the gold
Explained from scratch, in simple English: what the biggest market in the world is, why gold stands out in it, and how Apex Protocol trades that market for you with protection built in.
What is Forex
It is the market where currencies are exchanged.
When you travel and exchange your money for dollars, you made a currency exchange. Forex is that, only on a world scale: banks, companies and people exchanging currencies all the time.
per day
It is the biggest financial market in the world. Lots of people are buying and selling, so it is easy to get in and out.
Monday to Friday
It opens on Monday and closes on Friday night. The weekend it stays closed.
The price of a currency is always said in another currency. For example, EUR/USD = 1.10 means: 1 euro costs 1.10 dollars. If the euro becomes more valuable, the number goes up. If it becomes less valuable, the number goes down.
How someone wins or loses
You do not need to own the currency. You only need to say whether the price will go up or down.
Buy
You think the price will go up. You buy now, sell later. If it went up, you earned the difference.
Sell
You think the price will go down. You sell now, buy back later. If it went down, you earned the difference.
Be wrong
If the price moved the other way, the difference becomes a loss. This happens to anyone and to any robot.
What is gold (XAUUSD)
It is the price of gold, measured in dollars.
XAU is the international code for gold, the same way USD is for the dollar and BRL is for the real. One ounce is a unit of weight, about 31 grams. If XAUUSD is at 2,000, one ounce of gold is worth 2,000 dollars.
You do not buy gold bars. At the broker, you trade the price of gold. If the price goes up and you had bought, you win. If it goes down, you lose. There is no physical gold to keep, and that is why you can also win when gold goes down (by selling).
Why gold moves
Gold reacts to news and to the dollar, and that creates movement.
The dollar
Since gold is priced in dollars, when the dollar gets stronger gold usually gets cheaper, and the other way round too.
Interest rates and inflation
When US interest rates change, gold usually moves. Gold pays no interest, so it gains or loses appeal.
Fear and crises
In uncertain times, many people run to gold as a “safe haven”, and the price can rise fast.
News
US jobs and inflation data and decisions from the US central bank can move the price in seconds.
How Apex Protocol comes in
The robot trades one market only, and it is a specialist in it: gold.
Apex Protocol is a program that runs on MetaTrader 5 and trades XAUUSD for you, in your account, following fixed rules. It watches the price, waits for two signals to agree and enters only at set times. It does not withdraw or transfer your money: it only buys and sells.
Why only gold? Apex Protocol is specialized in gold: it was tuned and tested for that asset, not for “anything”. A robot built for a single market knows well how that market moves.
Trading gold automatically has a big advantage: the robot does not get tired, does not feel fear and does not get carried away. It follows the rules every day, at the right time.
Protection for your account
Apex Protocol was born with layers of protection switched on from day one.
Account stop loss
If the loss reaches 44% of the balance, the robot closes everything and pauses for 24 hours.
Worst drop in the historical test
In the historical test (simulation) from January 2024 to September 2026, about 3 years, the worst drop in the balance was 23.8%. It stayed well below the 44% stop loss.
News filter
Pauses new orders 30 minutes before and after important dollar news.
Closes on Friday night
Before the weekend, the robot stops opening orders and closes the ones that are open.
Cost and margin control
It does not open orders when the spread is high or the account margin is low.
License per account
Each robot only works on the account it was released for.
A historical test is a simulation with real past price data, including costs. Past results are a reference and are not a guarantee of future results. For now we only have simulation (backtest). Following the robot on a live account for 6 to 12 months, a reasonable time to validate the strategy, is our next step.
Stop loss: what it is and why it helps
It is an automatic exit order, placed together with each trade.
A stop loss is a limit price you set when you enter. If the market reaches it, the trade closes by itself. That way, the loss of that trade is born with a known ceiling.
Known loss in advance
You know the most that trade can cost before you enter.
Protects against jumps
If news suddenly moves the price, the exit is already set and does not depend on you watching.
Less emotion
The decision to exit is made calmly, beforehand. Not in the middle of a scare.
Makes risk easier to measure
With the loss per trade defined, it is simple to work out how much of the account you risk each time.
Why Exness
The broker is where your money stays. That is why the choice matters.
The broker is the company that connects you to the market. You open your account and deposit your money there, not with us. Apex Protocol only buys and sells inside your account.
Regulated by authorities
Entities of the Exness group are regulated by the FCA (UK) and CySEC (Cyprus), seen as top-tier, and also by the FSCA (South Africa).

Low costs on gold
It is where we tested Apex Protocol, with low spreads and low slippage.
Your money stays with you
It stays in your account at Exness. No broker removes market risk.
